1923 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Tourer

Chassis number: 55PK

Registration number: BT6611

Belonging to the current owner for the last three decades. This Ghost is in fine running condition with a strong quiet engine & rakish open tourer coachwork.

The car was purchased a s a chassis by the current owner in 1988. It was then fitted with the current London to Edinburgh style bodywork that we find on the car today. Originally a limousine; the suspension has been adjusted & leaves taken out of the springs to give the correct ride to match the current coach work which of course is far lighter then the original. As a result, the car drives beautifully. It pulls up steep hills in silence in third gear with aplomb, has an easy gear change & starts readily when cold or warm. The car runs equally well on both coil & magneto ignition systems.

After being purchased the engine was stripped to its component parts & the crank shaft etc checked for wear & addressed as required. The last owner states: "when the engine was stripped and examined it was found to be locked on its seven main bearings from standing unused for many years, all that it needed was to scrape off the layer of carbon on the face of the bearings, the crankshaft itself was found to be perfect with zero wear, the rest of the engine was found to be in the same condition with minimal or no wear so after a careful clean all was reassembled and the engine ran perfectly". The gearbox and axle were treated to fresh oil.

With the assistance of historian Michael Worthington-Williams the original registration BT6611 was reclaimed in 1993, since when the venerable Ghost has enjoyed continual use and starred in several weddings and a Welsh television drama. Prior to sale it has been treated to a thorough clean, and the wheels repainted and shod with new tyres.

The exterior paintwork is grey throughout & in good order. To the interior is blue buttoned leather for the seats & blue leather for the door cards. The rear carpets are also blue with aluminium foot boards to the front.

It may be viewed near Chepstow by prior appointment.
