Its tough boxed- section chassis featured independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a leaf sprung ‘live’ rear axle and disc / drum brakes. Fitted with a 1991cc four-cylinder OHV unit developing some 104bhp and 117lbft of torque, it was reputedly capable of 110mph. A great sales success on both sides of the Atlantic, the model provided a rather more visceral alternative to its MG and Jaguar competition. Great fun to drive, the ‘sidescreen TRs’ have long enjoyed a keen following among enthusiasts.According to its accompanying Standard Motor Company Ltd Production Record Extract, chassis TS59925E was completed to left-hand drive specification on October 21st, 1959. Initially finished in Primrose Yellow with Red leather upholstery, the TR3A was repatriated from Springfield, Ohio during 1990. Acquired by P. Darcy Esq later that same year, he treated the two-seater to an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration (including conversion to RHD) before getting it UK road registered as ‘HSK 235’ on September 1st 1991. Appearing to pleasingly retain its original engine (TS59925E), the Triumph was uprated for ‘fast road’ use as part of its refurbishment with improved brakes and suspension etc. Passing to historic rallying exponent Jason Dearden Esq in 2006, the TR3A was acquired by the present registered keeper the following year. Believed to have covered a mere 18, 000 miles since its rejuvenation, the two-seater has been enjoyed on trips to the Le Mans Classic and around Spa Francorchamps etc. Cosmetically scruffy in places, ‘HSK 235’ started readily and ran well during our recent photography session. Said to be ‘notably sound’ underneath, the Roadster has the benefit of a hardtop, overdrive, enlarged 2138cc cubic capacity, tonneau cover and aeroscreens. Offered for sale with blue V5C and large history file. ** Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via our H&H website, by telephone and commission - T&Cs apply**Entry by catalogue and can be purchased for £20 (admits 2 people)
