1934 Rolls-Royce 20/ 25 hp convertible / family-owned for 25 yearsTo build nothing less than the best car in the world – that, in a nutshell, was Frederick Henry Royce’s credo: deeply disappointed after purchasing a highly unreliable second-hand car at the start of the 20th century, the perfectionist Henry Royce decided to try his hand at developing a better vehicle from scratch. Even back then, his high standards of precision, reliability and driving comfort served as a guiding principle. With the launch of the ‘10 HP Royce’ at the end of March 1904, the foundation stone of what would later become the Rolls-Royce brand rolled out of the factory halls in Manchester, Great Britain.Shortly afterwards, Henry Royce met Charles Rolls, who even then enjoyed a certain degree of fame among Manchester’s high society as a car salesman for luxury vehicles such as Minerva, Panhard and others. The two sealed their partnership with a handshake, and Charles Rolls took on the general agency for the cars that Henry Royce built in small batches. The independently operating company ‘Rolls-Royce Limited’ was founded in 1906 – and has been fuelling enthusiasm for fine, comfortable and exclusive cars for 130 years now, right up to the present day. These very attributes apply in full to this extremely rare 1934 Rolls-Royce 20/ 25 hp convertible, which we are offering here on behalf of the owner. Designed as a further development of the 20 hp, the 20/ 25 hp features an in-line six-cylinder engine with increased displacement and an actual output of 68 hp. Between 1929 and 1936, only around 3, 800 units of the 20/ 25 hp were produced; in each case, only the chassis, including the engine and 4-speed gearbox, came from Rolls-Royce, whilst the respective bodywork was supplied by various coachbuilders. This Rolls-Royce 20/ 25 hp convertible is in very good condition, with the patina that has inevitably developed over the years left untouched by restoration. Soft beige leather, the very well-preserved wooden dashboard and the delicate round instruments all contribute to the car’s fine appearance. For more than 25 years now, this Rolls-Royce 20/ 25 hp convertible has been continuously owned by the current owner and has always been well maintained and looked after. The 5-digit odometer shows a mileage of approx. 48, 350 miles. A new vehicle inspection (MOT/ TÜV) is already included in the asking priceNotice / DisclaimerThis vehicle is being brokered on behalf of the owner.
