1927 Rolls Royce 20hp H.J. Mulliner Weyman Saloon.
Chassis number: GHJ6
Registration number: NF4599
Ordered by Joseph Cockshoot & Sons of Manchester & bodied by H.J. Mulliner to the Weyman construction patent as evidenced by the wayman Plaque located next to the Mulliner Sill plate. This car has resided for decades in central wales & is one of those rare unknown orignal survivors having recently emerged from its long term garage.
This is a rare untouched car with the only non original items being the carpets & the headlining which have been well redone. Overall it has a delightfully oily rag feel about it, but without doubt is in better then oily rag condition. The exterior is faded green paintwork with black wings. To the interior is black leather matched to green carpets. All the wood work is of burr walnut & has its original finish as when it left Mulliners Bedford Park Works in Chiswick.
We are in the process of recommissioning the car & giving it a full service. That being said we started & drove the car 8 miles after collecting it & can report a sweet running engine with good power & a pleasant driving experience overall. INdeed the further we drove it the better it became. We will put 50 or so more miles on the car once we have changed its fluids, oiled its Enots fittings & adjusted the valve clearances back to factory spec.
The car is fitted with a large sunroof allowing for breezy summer motoring. The starting handle & also the wheel spanner are located in the quite capacious boot which has also had new green carpets matching the other carpets.
The body is of a particulatly dainty & pretty design eliciting smiles from all who see it. The spare is rear mounted on the boot which opens by releasing two coach locks with the square T handled tool.
