1927 Alvis 12/50 SD Beetleback. Genuine Car. Well sorted excellent example of one of the finest medium sized sports cars of the 1920’s (according to Bill Boddy). Extremely reliable good performer with all the correct hard to find bits.
1496cc Short Stroke Engine. Big Port head. 4.55 Rebuilt Rear axle. Rebuilt close ratio gearbox. New rods. Reconditioned Solex MOV40. Original one piece manifold. Internal Exhaust. Newly rebuilt open hub wheels. Rewired. Hidden modern Cutout. Aluminium body. Correct instrumentation. Complete known ownership history to the present day, including many luminaries: Annabel Jones, Kevin Lee, and Lou Wickham. I recently took the headlights apart to fit LED bulbs and found the original owners name written on the back of the reflectors.
I thought I would own this car forever and have looked after it accordingly but a new exciting project requires space. These are very rarely available to the market as only around 40 of these most desirable SD 12/50’s survive. The car is a hugely competent all-rounder that can be driven to events and be competitive. It is 3 litre Bentley performance for a fraction of the cost. A great rally weapon. The 12/50 Register is incredibly active with a very complete spares scheme (parts arrive the next day) that has made ownership a total joy.
