This Austin 7 was registered in May 1924 and it has the distinctive early features of a scooped out scuttle and a pram hood, the combination of which make this a sought after car. The car's early history is unknown, although there is a Pathe News clip of it taking part in a vintage car rally in Chippenham, in 1959 (Google NX5933), but soon after it was exported to Canada. The current owner inherited the car three years ago from his late brother who had bought it following its importation back to the UK in 1990. Fortunately it still retains the original registration number.
The car is in original unrestored condition and there's a VSCC certificate to that effect. The engine has been replaced in recent years but the original engine is included in the sale, although it awaits reassembly and fitting back in the car. During the last three years the car has been completely rewired with vintage style wiring and the magneto, starter and dynamo have been overhauled. Austin 7 enthusiasts agree this is a rare example of an early Chummy being in very original condition yet good running order and in regular use, hence this is a very desirable car which seldom comes to market.

This and 60 other classic cars and motorcycles will be sold on June 15th at Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ. All enquiries to 01249 444544
