1928 2.0 Litre Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model
Chassis number: SM9231
Registration number: XV3926

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1928 2 Litre Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model for sale. Restored and Owned by ‘Marque’ specialist, the late Derek Green.

The Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model had resulted from the Factory's Le Mans effort off 1928, when the 2.0 litre 'high chassis' driven by Andre D'Erlanger and Douglas Hawkes had finished 11th overall in the 24-Hour endurance classic.

Finished in dark claret and black with correct American leather cloth on the body tub, this Lagonda was the winner of multiple first awards at many concourse events and outright winner at Burnham Beeches. Two trophies come with the Lagonda. The Lagonda has only had three owners in the last thirty five years. It was restored and owned by the legendary Derek Green who owned the world renowned ‘Cedar Classics’ who specialised in Lagonda & Invicta. The Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model comes with history back as far as the late 1940’s -1950’s with the buff Logbook and pictures of the car in this era.

From the outset the aim of the restoration was to keep the Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model as near as possible to total originality whilst providing the highest standard as one could achieve. Contributors to the restoration were other well-known Lagonda restoration people including Peter Whenman and Alex Downie who were well known in Lagonda Circles.

The Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model has many original and period features down to a reversing light, spot lights, tool sets, and oil can under the bonnet and fire extinguisher. The end result was the perfect Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model Tourer.

In later years, the head has been converted to unleaded, and at the recommendation of Lagonda specialists, it was suggested we put an electric fan on the car as in the old days the car came without one,– strange but true! Today, it looks exactly as you would expect, stunning but with beautiful patina.

We believe that this is one of the nicest and most correct Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model Tourers to come on the market for many years. This is a great opportunity to own such an iconic 1920’s vehicles that is eligible for VSCC events

Under the bonnet the car is beautifully detailed as one might expect. A klaxon horn is fixed to the bulkhead. The engine runs with a lovely warm throaty roar and is a pleasure to drive once you get the hang of the gear changes and will put the biggest smile on your face. An assortment of bills along with a photographic essay of the rebuild comes with the Lagonda.

The interior of the Lagonda High Chassis Speed Model is deep burgundy hide in superb condition with light patination along with matching red carpets. The mahogany dash board includes the usual complement of the requisite instrumentation and includes a ‘Kigas Primer’ for cold starts. The hood easily erects and a full set of side screens are found in their appointed place behind the rear seat back. A useful luggage rack is fitted to accommodate a motoring trunk or suitcases.
