For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD,Land Rover® Series 1 in RAF Blue (1952)

MOT Exempt. Tax Exempt. Petrol. Only 4 former keepers.

Here for sale we have a lovely, early Series 1 80 inch presented in its correct Ex Raf Blue. It started life obviously as a military vehicle, registration 43 AA 09. It served as a bird control Unit with RAF North Weald until de mobbed in 1960, which is the first registration date. The current (super) registration of 4044 NA is transferable (and probably valuable) but for the sake of history, we prefer to leave it with the vehicle. A heritage certificate has been applied for, which will detail the actual build date, but judging from the chassis number, it looks to have been built between March and September 1952.

As the photos show, this is quite a sweet and tidy truck, having benefitted in the past to various refurbishments, of which some photos survive and are included in the sales pack. It's nice to see period style wheels and tyres of the correct size, all the extra details and furniture one would expect to see, and generally it's an appealing set up. Even the chassis is colour coded to the vehicle, giving a crisp look to proceedings "down under."

The interior is also nicely appointed, with a full compliment of front and rear seats, and again, it's all been "done" to look ready to use. The military plate still survives too, proudly shown on the bulkhead.

Out on the road, she trundles along nicely, and goes better than most may imagine from a car of this age - she's quite a sweety.

In summary then, this is a nicely presented, well sorted, low owner, early Series 1 soft top, with all the bells and whistles - and presented in a reasonably rare but handsome colour to show off its previous history, in protecting our nation!
