Chassis number 4FS/6713
Engine Number JC11080 2468cc six cylinder.
Registration MG 1124
Four owners from new. The first, Dr H Gordon Tucker used the car daily from new until 1969 covering over 356,000 miles before it was sold to Phil Jennings who totally restored the car. He owned the car until 2000 when it was sold to Peter Mace who owned and used the car in VSCC competitions. It was subsequently sold to the current owner in 2009.
Since owning the car the current owner has rewired it, repaired and refurbished the fuel tank. Re-fabricated the reserve fuel and oil tanks. The rear axle has been refurbished and strengthened by John Day and new drums were remanufactured to original specification in 2013 and fitted with new linings etc.
The car comes with a very extensive history file, VSCC buff logbook and many photographs of restoration etc.
The car is in great condition and is reported to be reliable and a pleasure to drive. The dolphin mascot is supplied with the car and has been with it since new as it was given to the first owner by his brother who was stationed at HMS Dolphin at the time. The speedometer currently shows 365,000 miles, indicating it has done around 10,000 miles since its restoration and MoTs show the mileage covered in the last 10 years is only 1200 miles. Current MoT certificate expires March 2018
With only three MK1 Four Door Saloons , and only one other fabric bodied car, surviving this is a very rare opportunity to be the next custodian of a piece of history. The six cylinder engine has great performance and cruising speeds of 60mph making it very usable in modern traffic and continental touring.
Well known in the Vintage MG Register. Inspection is recommended and welcomed prior to purchase.
