UK registered car that has been fully restored and is in excellent condition. Chassis no HDL13/43513.
I have been the owner and keeper since 1972; I bought the car with 77,000miles on the clock; it was fitted with front disc brakes to replace the original drums. The car was on the road for 13 years; the total mileage in that period was approx. 5,000. During that time the engine was re-conditioned and fitted with new pistons. In 1985 it was taken off the road (SORNed) and stored for several years (children etc!!). It was then completely stripped down.
The bare chassis was restored, injected with waxoyl and set up on a purpose built jig to check the alignment. The inner body shell was dipped and stripped; all rust damaged areas were replaced with new sections and the complete inner shell was resprayed in the car’s original glacier blue colour. The outer body panels were restored/replaced as necessary and all resprayed. I have photographs of the bodywork rebuild.
The mechanicals, hydraulics and electrics were all restored/replaced as necessary; a new electrical wiring loom was installed.
The gearbox was replaced with a Hi-Gear Engineering, 5 speed conversion kit which considerably improves the driving comfort. The original gearbox and prop-shaft have been kept. The speedometer was replaced to match the new gearbox.
The body trim was all replaced in tan; the seats were re-covered. The hood and tonneau cover were replaced.
The rebuild/restoration was completed in 2010. The car has been licenced since then but has done very little mileage (1,100 miles) and it has always been garaged.
Mini-lite alloy wheels have been fitted; the original steel wheels have been kept and are in good condition.
