Morgan 2-speed Aero 1928
ON 6134 was originally a Morgan Family. Roger Edmunds utilised many chassis parts from the dilapidated original to construct an Aero.
Engine –
JAP LTOW 1100cc
Duncan Wood of Fairbourne Carriages Ltd rebuilt the engine with all new internals, these include a competition crank and rods, piston assemblies (+ .0010), valve assemblies, guides, rocker needle bearings, half time pinion and cams. The unit is total-loss and is running on castor based oil. A lubrication system for the valve guides is fitted and operated by a Best & Lloyd pump from the dash. The ML magneto was totally rebuilt by Dave Lindsay. The carb is an AMAL Monoblock which is not period correct but is jetted appropriately (D. Wood). Throttle is (left) hand operated on the steering wheel. Large capacity oil catch tank.
Chassis/running gear-
New front suspension bronze sliders (Alf Gapper)
Timken taper roller front wheel bearing conversion (D Wood)
Single cable compensated front brake mechanism (G Burnage) operated by foot pedal
Rear brake converted to outside hand operation (G Burnage)
‘Standard’ 2-speed Aero gearing (Pat Bastock)
‘Wide B’ rear bevel-box/rear fork – Oversize fork pivot bushes & modified for strength (G Burnage)
Telescopic front and rear dampers – rebound ‘Escort’ scooter dampers (G Burnage)
Electrical system-
Alternator- chain driven from cross-shaft, not currently fitted, neither are the headlights.
Starter motor & mounting bracket (Alf Gapper)
Single plate clutch & Flywheel (Alf Gapper)
Twin electric horns
Brake light operated by foot brake
Varley ‘Red Top 60’ racing battery
