1928 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Hooper Sedanca.

Chassis number: 28UF
Registration number: YW4038

A magnificent low mileage car having covered a scant 48,000 miles since new. Ordered by one Stewart Kilpatrick of Thames Ditton, he did not relinquish ownership until 1961. During the war years was put up on blocks & not used again until being recommissioned after his death & sparingly used by members of his surviving family. The car drives beautifully with a tight taut feel to it & a strong silent powerful engine. Rolls-Royce issued their guarantee for the car on 1st June 1928.

Coachwork is by the King of Coachbuilders, Hooper & Co taking the form of a versatile Sedanca Deville. It carries echoes from the carriage building days with delightful carriage style moulding carrying forwards from the front doors. It is finished in cream over black with a fabric roof covering. To the interior is black leather to the front & beautiful new red leather to the rear making the cabin a sumptuous place to recline. Twin occasional seats are fitted to the rear making for seating for 7 people.

Pleasingly the interior retains all its original Hooper accoutrements. The woodwork is book matched Macassar Ebony of the highest quality. The original Dictaphone intercom is in its place & has been refurbished to full working order allowing those in the rear to give direction to the driver up front. Twin side mount spare wheels are fitted to the front or both running boards making for an imposing frontal appearance.

Under the bonnet the car is very very original retaining the original under trays as fitted to the car when new; the only deviation from standard being the fitment of a modern full flow oil filter. A large nickel klaxon horn is bolted to the bulkhead. To the rear is a compact motoring trunk. You really have to drive this car to appreciate for well it goes. Indeed it gives one a feel as to how these cars were when new. The history of the car is comprehensive listing numerous owners & their addresses up to the present day.
