Commentaires du vendeur sur 1925' Rover 16/50 Saloon

This is truly motoring of a bygone era. To quote from author Eric Dymock "It was a car with doors that closed with the convincing clunk of a railway carriage, with furnishings like those in a doctor's consulting room." "A car for strong men in tweed plus plus-fours who preferred things built to last."

This is the only known surviving coachbuilt saloon of it's type in the UK. It has been with the previous owner for some 12 years. There is a decent file with the car which includes an original owners hand book, road tests, reviews, period advertising etc. There is also a copy of an advert for the car dated 1977 when it was being sold by P.G. Gant of Hurst Green.

The car has a lovely period feel to it. The condition is excellent but nicely worn. With an opening V screen and smoker's hatch it would be a great car to take to suitable period events. Take the family - goodness take two families!

The 16/50 featured a 2,400cc 4 cylinder engine coupled to a 4 speed manual transmission with right hand gearchange.

It is right that we value and cherish these important pieces of motoring history. The previous owner understood this, and hopefully the new custodian will too.
