Comentários do vendedor sobre 1974' BMW 3.0
BMW introduced a new two-door coupé that was built for BMW by Karmann in 1968 and production lasted until 1975. Named internally as the BMW E9, the first model to be produced was the 2800 CS which replaced the earlier 2000 C and 2000 CS coupé models. The wheelbase and length were increased to allow the engine bay to be long enough to accommodate the new straight-six engine, code-named M30, and the front of the car was restyled to resemble the E3 sedan. The 2800 CS used the 2,788cc version of the engine used in the E3 sedans and produced 170hp. Not only was the 2800 CS lighter than the preceding 2000 CS, it also had a smaller frontal aspect, further increasing the performance advantage. The 2800CS was replaced by the 3.0 CS and 3.0 CSi in 1971. The engine had been bored out to give a displacement of 2,986. It was offered with twin carburettors in the 3.0 CS which produced 180hp, or with fuel injection in the 3.0 CSi which produced 200hp. Both cars were available as either a four speed manual or automatic. Performance of both the 3.0 CS and 3.0 CSi was very competitive compared with contemporaries.
Properly maintained E9 CSi’ and CSA make for a very usable classic cars. But unfortunately, many E9’s are not used regularly, so begin to feel fragile or un reliable. They are now just looked at in car collections. Well this car has remained in use and it feels so much better for it. I have been driving this car around all week and can confirm that everything is working as it should. It has a lovely heater, fan working on all speeds, wipers all fine, modern stereo with good reception, perfectly behaved in traffic or effortlessly cruising on a motorway. Classic Cars magazine tested this actual car as part of a ‘Grand Tourers’ special. Comments included ‘The BMW CS is easy to like’, ‘Very engaging handling and fabulously elegant, crisp looks’, ‘The glow of knowing you have, in usability terms, a better car than a CSL at less cost, its almost irresistible’. It goes on and on, they loved this example as much as I do.

Bodywork / Wheels / Interior
This CSA is finished in Metallic Blue. This colour looks fantastic on this BMW, it really works well with the chrome work. The car was fully restored in 2017 to 2019, at a cost of £22,000, it still looks fantastic. This CSA benefits from the CSL front spoiler, a common and very well chosen upgrade.
Looking underneath and more closely at this car, its clear the restoration was performed very well. I welcome any inspection, its a very solid example.
The interior is amazing, one of the nicest E9 interiors I have seen. The stunning woodwork, recently replaced. Continue looking around, the seats are excellent and very comfortable and supportive, the carpets are excellent and original . Headlining, door cards etc, all just as good. Looking in the boot and this example features storage box. Its all been finished to an excellent standard. Open the engine bay, the paintwork etc all look fantastic.
Engine / Gearbox
The 3.0 fuel injected, straight six engine performs very well. This power is very smooth, hot or cold and returns a lovely ‘BMW howl’ when pushed. You will be surprised how modern for the year this car feels to drive, easily competing with modern traffic, but offering a far more relaxed drive.
The gearbox feels very nice, the clutch is relatively light, very easy gear changes.
History
The car has its original book pack with its factory BMW service book . With just 5 former keepers and each keeping it for a significant amount of time.
The first owner a Dr. Brierley from 1974 to the early 1990’s who kept every service receipt to 1990. The car was meticulously serviced mainly through the BMW Richard Cound Ltd which later became BMW Cotswold Service station.

This BMW has had a full restoration in 2018/19. A complete bare shell, along with adding a full rust protection underneath. We have a full set of pictures of this work with the history. Following that we have a folder full of receipts, with regular servicing work etc. On top of this, bills to note are 1 from Classic Legends in 2019 for £22,000,
Summary
This E9 CSA is an absolute delight. Its been brought up to a very good standard and no expense has been spared.
This is a classic which will be loved everywhere you take it, such a good looking and lovely to drive car.
The market for good solid CSA’s is very strong, as with prices of the CSL’s making them almost unusable, the CSA’s make a very good choice.
This CSA is ready to be enjoyed now.
Optional:
Slightly larger, 16 inch alloys are available, all in excellent condition, fitted with matching tyres. These are genuine period ALPINA alloys.
