Comentários do vendedor sobre 1977' BMW 6 Series 633Csi

With a very heavy heart and much reluctance I have decided to sell my extremely rare restored classic BMW, a 1977 633csi. I’ll apologies in advance for the lengthy description but feel it’s totally justified as it’s definitely not your average classic car!
To put how rare the 633csi is into perspective, I have only ever seen one other for sale in the UK in my 3 years of ownership. Bearing in mind this other car was also barn find “project” so the polar opposite to my 633 which is a truly usable timepiece.
The car has been magazine featured a few years ago and is as far as I know the only restored 633csi on the road today. It has also as of this year become classified as a historic vehicle on the Log Book so now qualifies for road tax exemption meaning tax free motoring!

After researching online I am lead to believe the car is one of a handful of survivors in the UK and the only one currently offered for sale anywhere online so will be a rare opportunity for someone to own a stunningly beautiful piece of BMW history. It is distinctly rarer and more special than the later 635csi of which there are still many around.
A quick search for a 633csi on most classified car websites today highlights how rare this car is with no others currently for sale.
I had absolutely no intentions of ever selling it at any time but a combination of changing personal circumstances and loss of the garage storage I am currently renting for her have lead me to this decision which I am sure I’ll regret in the future!
I own a collection of BMW’s I have put together over the last 8 years and the 633 is a very special car amongst it being the oldest and most classic. It’s the only one I keep garaged because of its age.
I purchased the car from a really nice elderly gentleman back in 2016 as I had always wanted to own a true “shark nose” 6 series. He was also a BMW enthusiast and had owned the car for quite some time around 9 years or so. He had carried out a very thorough documented restoration on the car which was the main reason I bought it as it was effectively a turnkey classic which could be used with no need for any major mechanical or body work restoration.
Being as rare as it is, the car was recently featured in the well known “Classic Car” magazine publication as part of their 40th anniversary of the 6 series article. It and was sought out through the BMW car club UK forums as the only drivable 633csi available for the day! I have a copy of the feature for the new owner and the article can also be seen online so it really does add to the individuality of this car.
In my ownership, the car has been garaged and virtually unused for most of its life in order to preserve the bodywork and keep it away from the elements. It has only been used on a handful of very rare dry day occasions. I have only put a few hundred miles on it in my ownership which stands the mileage at just over an extremely low 58,000.

Although the car does not have a massive amount of past service history purely due to the fact the owner before last misplaced it all the mileage is 100% genuine for a number of reasons. It can be traced on the cars MOT history file online and is in line with the cars use over the last 10 years. Also the previous owner had it for 9 years. The chap who owned it before him had it for 19 years and was an elderly doctor. I have a letter written from him to the previous owner detailing how he was in the process of locating the service history.
I was informed by the previous owner who I bought it form that he bought it as a running car which needed some mechanical and body work to get it up to scratch which he proceeded to do over his ownership. So the car has had a full and thorough mechanical restoration on the drive train/suspension/engine/gearbox etc.
Engine:
Fully reconditioned with a full strip down and rebuild using genuine BMW parts throughout. This includes a new crankshaft/bearings and a brand new cylinder block which I have the previous owner’s receipts for. New genuine timing chains guides etc amongst a host of other parts internally in the engine. There are bills and receipts for all the engine work carried out. The engine runs superb and sounds very healthy with clean oil thanks to the comprehensive rebuild.
Chassis/suspension/drive train/brakes
Brand new O/E struts and springs have been fitted along with every single bush and ball joint which has been replaced using genuine BMW parts also evident in the previous owner’s receipts which I have. The list of parts is unbelievable. Gearbox has also been fully rebuilt and functions perfectly. Sub frames both front and rear have been stripped and powder coated for protection along with many other chassis components. Brake and fuel pipes have also been renewed with newer copper items and the car has been fully under sealed. There has been the necessary welding carried out to various parts of the underneath of the car to pass the previous MOT’s by the previous owner. The differential and drive shafts along with all associated components look to have been renewed or reconditioned too which is evident under the car.
Bodywork:
The car has been re sprayed by the previous owner at some point during it's restoration and is up to a good standard. Front wings which are the main point of corrosion on these old 6 series’ are clean and free of rust along with the rear arches which are immaculate. All the chrome work on the car is absolutely spotless and pit free with no rust or corrosion at all. The bumpers along with many other trim parts have been renewed with new genuine parts from BMW again with receipts to prove at a cost of hundreds.
All the lights are genuine and in excellent condition with the genuine BMW stamps on them. Under the engine bay clear signs of the restoration are evident as it really looks immaculate for a 40 year old car. The panels are all clean as is the bonnet internally and general engine components. The radiator and fan have been renewed and are all genuine items.
Interior:
Inside the 633 is in absolute original condition throughout and has worn it's 40 years unbelievably well. The seats, carpets and trims/dash are all in excellent condition.
Everything in the engine bay is totally original as it left the factory and all the BMW stamps on the components like the air filter box are present making this car unbelievably genuine and original.
As rare as the 633csi is, I have enquired with my local BMW dealership and all parts are still available from BMW to this day making future upkeep straight forward.
Brakes have all been refreshed with refurbished in the past callipers and discs/pads are good. The car will wear the original factory spoked alpine style wheels which are all immaculate and have been refurbished. These are the ones in the photos with the slightly flatter face and the genuine centre caps. I recently managed to source an extremely rare and sought after set of the factory optional wider alpine style wheels with a slightly deeper dish. At the time of taking the photos I have these fitted on most of the photos and will be selling these separately should the new owner want. These have also been fully refurbished and powder coated.
Tyres are all a matching set and hold plenty of tread.
I have a copy of the rare dealer brochure of the car on its release in its file and both these wheels are shown on the car so it ties in nicely.
The car really needs to be seen to be appreciated for its condition, it gains so much attention when driven and is stunning to look at in the flesh. The accentuated shark nose is so distinctive and sets it apart from any other classic or modern BMW’s. Sadly I have reluctantly accepted I will not have either the storage facility for the car in the near future, or the time to spend on its upkeep due to ever increasing work and family commitments. I have a couple of other modern classic BMW’s which will be easier to upkeep in the long run and feel this classic deserves more than I would be able to give in the future. Having said that it really is an extremely usable classic car and is unbelievable smooth and reliable to drive. I collected it from Southampton when I bought it and drove it back without missing a beat. It’s never let me down since and drives exceptionally well for a 40 year old BMW. This is totally done to the fact it has had all the major restoration work done on it mechanically I feel.
My 633 will ideally be placed with a classic BMW enthusiastic who would appreciate its true worth and rarity.
the photos on the advert do not do the car justice at all so I have taken numerous photos of the car from every angle and happy to send them over via whats app or email/text message etc.
Happy to send a video over too of the car running if need be.
Happy to entertain any serious enquiries on the car and provide any more information you require..more than happy to have a chat over the phone on the car but a viewing is really essential to get a true picture of its condition.
Located in Harrow London for a viewing..just give me a call to arrange.
Many thanks.
