1929 Humber 16/50 saloon - Award Winning Car

Quality emanates from this beautiful 1929 Humber 16/50. With less than 64,000 miles covered in her 91 years - she has won several awards and represents very good value.

Humbers of the pre - Rootes era were fine quality cars that appealed to a discerning clientele. Catered for by the Humber Register - they have a loyal following today.

In our ever increasingly fast - paced world it is a pleasure to take time to appreciate all the individual period details and beauty of our cars.

We particularly enjoy the satisfying ‘clunk’ of a timber framed door on a coach built body - This 1929 Humber 16/50 is one such motor car.

Restoring, repairing and conserving these beautiful machines is part of joy and responsibility of owning an historic car.

Introduced in 1929, the Humber 16/50 was the replacement for the venerable 14/40 model. The new 16/50 boasted a smooth running 6-cylinder engine with 7 bearing crankshaft, with the well-established inlet over exhaust engine layout that Humber had used since 1922. New features included coil ignition, mechanical fuel pump and Bendix brakes. Fixtures and fittings were of the high quality expected from this manufacturer and the 16/50 appealed to the discerning professional and middle-class motorist of the period.

First registered in Surrey on the 11th May 1929, little is known of the cars earliest history, however, by 1942 it was residing in Amersham, Buckinghamshire as shown in the RF60 Buff Logbook.

During 1963 the car passed into the hands of Capt R F Frankcom of Sherborne, Dorset and underwent a complete restoration. The car was to remain in this ownership until acquired by the current custodian in 1997.

A substantial amount of documentation includes of an engine overhaul during 1991 and over the ensuing years there is clear evidence that considerable amount of care and expenditure has been lavished upon the car – as is evidenced by its exceptional condition.

This car is in exceptional order in every respect having formed part of a small private collection. This motor car will appeal to the most discerning enthusiast and must be seen to be appreciated. The car won an award at the Bristol Classic Car Show in 2017 and her silver cup and rosette are included.
