XK150 The Fifties fastest
while a direct descendent of the XK 120 and XK 140, the 150 boasted a number of innovations when it was introduced in 1957: the windscreen was now a single pane of glass instead of the split window, and sat 4 inches further back on the body. Meaning an elongated hood and a more striking profile. the droops in the side of the body had also been smoothed out, improving aerodynamics. the dashboard was completely updated to keep up with the times, now clad in luxurious leather instead of wood. while a fantastically luxurious cruiser in period, the XK150 was known for something entirely different. Speed. from 1958 onwards a SE (Special equipment) package with a revised cylinder head and twin SU carburetors was introduced, bumping the power output to a then unheard of 210 BHP. this meant that XK150 SE was capable of 120 Mph (193kph) all this power and top speed was stopped by another of Jaguar’s innovations fitted to the SE, Disc brakes.

This 1959 XK150 Drophead Coupe SE has had a peculiar start in life. Bought by an english gentlemen in Bahrein named ‘Mr Ferris’, it is the only left hand drive example ever imported into Bahrein. After its life in the middle east the car arrived in The Netherlands in 1969 and was completely restored in 2010 by Jaguar specialists: Classic Restoration Services. the original engine was restored with the car and remains in its rightful position in the engine bay. The car was refinished during the restoration in tasteful black exterior with ‘biscuit’ interior and matching soft top.
