1970 Porsche 911T - Matching Numbers - Barn Find - Restoration Project - ex-California
Restoration Project
Matching Numbers
This is a barn find, it has sat in a collector's garage for 30+ years.
Californian Import
An original 'blue plate' Californian car.
US Spec Left Hand Drive
Ivory White exterior, paint code 1111
Gold Porsche script on decklid
2.2 litre, flat-6
This car is pretty much complete - apart from missing carburettors
Engine has been stripped down for rebuild however the block and transmission are still bolted up inside the car.
Interior is complete.
Car is supplied with a Porsche UK Certificate of Authenticity
This Porsche has been entered into the UK's NOVA system (New Vehicle Arrivals) and will be supplied with US title (their version of our V5), this can then be exchanged for a V5C in your name.
Chassis condition:
Being an ex-California car the floors are intact and don't need replacing, there is just one small hole that needs patching up. The inner sills/rockers are in good condition
'Horseshoe' suspension pan under the fuel tank has some corrosion and will need replacing as will the rear parcel shelf (these cars had a tendancy to leak around the rear window). New replacement steel for both jobs is included in the sale.
Some steel around the suspension tower will need replacing on the front left inner wing/fender. You may want to buy a whole new inner wing to do this as there is a whole around the fuse box area, or you could choose to patch it up.
The story is the car got laid up after it had a minor bump in this area. I've since had the car on a rig to check it, it now just needs welding up.
There is also a piece of steel in the front scuttle that has been cut out under the windscreen that needs replacing. This piece of metal is supplied with the vehicle, so you could straighten it out and weld it back on if you so wish.
New sheet steel included in sale:
PP200: Front suspension pan w/tow hook (1965-73)
PP221A: Parcel Shelf 1969-71 LWB
The part numbers above are from Restoration Design Inc. Canada. These parts alone cost me around £500.
This example is all original:
Headlights and chrome rings are present as are the rear lights.
Original bumpers and rear chrome over riders - these can be expensive to replace
Original glass and chrome finishers
Perfect set of genuine Fuchs wheels:
Fronts: 6J x 16" Part number 911361020 43
Rear: 7J x 16" Part number 911361020 44
Wiring loom/harness seems to be complete though not tested.
The engine is stripped down but supplied with all the tin ware, ready for a rebuild
Original fuel tank in good condition
Compete black interior, headling needs replacing but all gauges and original steering wheel and gear shift are present.
Comes with the original radio still in place and 911T badge on dashboard
