Comentários do vendedor sobre 1946' Standard 4/8A
This is an absolute time warp car. It has not been restored and does not need to be in my opinion. Owned from new by one family it shows 2 owners on the log book; one of those was the dealer I bought it off as a rolling ruin. Originally registered in North Notts which is where it still lives. Some doccumentation and a good story with this one and original log book. Reg number is transferable but please don't! I purchased it and recommissioned it but did no cosmetic work accept to clean it up a bit. The paint etc is all original and needs to stay that way as that is where the value is. It has had a full engine rebuild to a high standard with some internal modifications to help it keep up with modern traffic. It runs and drives like a 70 year old car would but it does get up the road quite well. However bear in mind it has cable brakes, basic suspension and 6 volt electrics. Details as follows:
Engine - full rebuild (photos available) it has been mildly tuned and is quite lively for a 1000cc car. Not fully run in yet. Holds oil and water and sounds crisp. I have fitted a period SU carburettor as the original was worn out. This has made a lot of difference to the drivability and economy of the car. Exhaust is a mixture of 2CV and the original which was a bit of thick wall copper pipe - sounds epic! Reconditioned radiator.
Gearbox and clutch - Gearbox works as it should. Clutch works ok but will need re-lining at some point in the future as its getting a bit weak.
Suspension, Steering and Brakes - Brakes work and it stops but don't expect modern car performance. Steering is ok with a bit of play in the box. Suspension is actually quite good and soaks up the bumps. Again overall it's original and a bit worn. Tyres are quite old but not perished and hold air. Spare is with the car.
Bodywork - Ash frame with a mixture of steel and alloy panels. Frame isn't too bad for the age although a couple of the joints are a bit loose and you need to make sure door are properly shut. Most 'tourer' type cars have a bit of body flex. All a bit scruffy and play worn with dings, scratches, flat spots, crazing and a general lovely patina. Responds well to being wiped over with Duck Oil!
Chassis - good and solid.
Electrics: 6 Volt electrics which work and charge. All the lights work apart from the semaphores; I just stick my arm out. Wiring is ok overall and has had some repair but is sound. New decent quality battery.
Hood - in tatters! I didn't bother to restore it as it as I think it looks great as it is. Frame is good and it has all it's fixings and nuts for the side screens which are also present. The side screens are however very milky.
Interior: Again in time warp condition. The leather, particularly on the front seats is very good. Drivers seat has a hinge issue and is held up with a block of wood. Quite comfortable though. No carpet in front and it's had new marine ply floor boards at some point.
There are some spares to come with the car and an original Jack, Starting Handle and Wheel Brace. Also the wheel trims (rusty but solid) are there.
There are not so many cars like this about anymore. The tendency to rip everything apart and make it better than new seems to finally and thankfully be on the decrease. If you want this as a restoration project go and buy another car please - this does not need it and it would, in my opinion and the opinion of the market, loose value if 'restored'. Buy it, use it, repair it as you go and enjoy it. Gets an incredible amount of attention at shows. Agreed value on insurance is £8k.
Cash on collection or payment by bank transfer. I would consider a part ex with some cash car or bike: no basket cases, nothing that's newer than tax exempt, I quite like Imp's and Mini's and stuff thats been modified, Hotrods and Rat Rods, Yanks and original stuff is right up my street. Advertised elsewhere for same price. Price is firm unless you want part ex option.
I strongly recommend you come and view the car as original cars are a matter of personal taste and I don't really want any issues with it being bought blind and then not being what was expected. No overseas. You have 7 days after sale to collect it after that its £5 a day storage. A 10% non refundable deposit is required within 12 hours of sale. The advert will stay on until car collected and paid for. Sorry to have to add all this, you will find me very easy to deal with however I've been messed about on here before and I'm trying to avoid it again.
