We have owned this car for the last eleven years and it has given us much pleasure.
When bought, it did not have an original engine/gearbox but had been fitted with a Rootes Twin carb 1600 motor/gearbox from a 1960s Sunbeam Alpine that made the car easy to drive and spares were easily available.We acquired a correct period Triumph motor/freewheel gearbox and parts to convert the car back to original spec but decided that we wanted to enjoy the car and use it regularly so elected to also obtain a Rootes 1725 motor and all synchro gearbox from a later Alpine to give us a pre-war car that is much easier to drive than the original and if required, much easier to repair.
The 1725 motor was fully restored only a few years ago with a reground crank, new shells, rebored, new pistons, new camshaft, new cam followers, new oil pump, block waterways cleaned, new core plugs, alloy head overhauled, retaining twin solex carbs, accuspark elec ign etc, .

We have fitted some small discreet led flashing indicators for safety (but not drilled any bodywork to fit them) and retained the fully working original semaphores. We fitted a reversing light (mandatory when we competed two MCC historic trials (Exeter and Lands End Centenary trials a few years ago) The car "cleaned" both and won medals on both! But as the President of the MCC observed at the time, "so it should-your car was designed for these kind of events!"
We have just completed installing a full set of new brake linings as we could not contemplate selling with the, by now, well worn originals. Brake seals were replaced just a few years ago.
We still have the Triumph parts to return the car to original spec and could have done so but as we always had the car to drive and enjoy, rather than just to look at, we were never in a rush to convert back to original. We believe the car is far more pleasurable as a car to use in her present form but others may wish to differ so the engine gearbox and sundry parts are all included with the car.

Not a show car but a tidy and rare 81 year old quality sports car(and only 12 are believed to survive with original bodywork). Ready to continue to be driven as is or ideal for returning to original, your choice?
Although no MOT is required, we are happy to have this car MOTd if it reassures you as to the safety/reliability
Sadly a back injury (not caused by this car) means we can no longer enjoy our beloved Gloria Southern Cross!
