1971 Triumph Vitesse Convertible Mk2

I searched for ages to find one with history, a solid chassis, sprightly engine and as importantly, full three point seat belts in the back. Being less worried about the overall cosmetics than the reliability as I planned to use the car for small family outings in and around London, this car ticked all the boxes. It’s a 1971 Mk2 with a heritage certificate indicating it was at the very end of the run with only 16 cars off the line after, making it possibly the "newest" Vitesse on the road...

I planned to treat it as a light cosmetic restoration project whilst we used it for family outings to the pub and to car shows. Life sometimes gets in the way of things though and with other commitments it's languished under a dust sheet in a dry garage this past year. I last drove it in the spring of 2016 and it flew round corners and zinged up and down the roads around Carshalton in south London, but since then, with no MOT it's been off the road, and I am reasonably sure the rear brakes will be sticking and will need attention before it's next test.

I’m not going to describe the car so much in words as the pictures say all I need. I can’t offer you a drive as it’s SORN’d with no MOT. It starts, runs and can be driven on to a trailer, for that is how you’ll be getting it home or back to your workshop. It’s a car for someone with time to re-commission it, tend to the cracks in the paint and get some passengers in the back behind those three point inertia reel seat belts for a trip to the beach next spring.

Some of the highlights include the comprehensive history file going back to it’s first owner with stacks of bills and MOTs. The lovely clean engine with polished alloy cam-cover and spotless engine bay are a visual treat. The car has after market Minilites with tyres sporting more than 4mm tread depth. I also have a full set of 5 original steel wheels painted in the original Old English White to match the car with period correct chrome hub caps and good rubber across all. In addition, the car comes with it’s original (So I was told) metal bonnet. A previous owner had switched for a lightweight fiberglass bonnet but kept the original. It’s a bit rusty but it goes with the car for a future owner to re-condition.

She owes me £4250, so you're getting a deal. Contact me for more photos which are available online.
