Registration No: BBJ 762SChassis No: the details belowMOT: ExemptFull professional resprayExtremely rare classic motorhomeFitted with a 2. 0 litre Subaru engineIn 1974, on a trip to South Africa, Wilhelm Karmann Jr. noticed a Jurgens motorhome, a design launched in 1973, built on a Volkswagen Type 2 chassis. He was so taken by it that he requested licensed production. The first motorhome produced by Karmann was also based on the Volkswagen Type 2 chassis and launched in 1974. The bodies of these early Karmann’s were of a sandwich structure with kitchen, shower, two beds, grey water tank, secondary battery, toilet, hot water heater and gas heating. An optional luggage rack could be sited over the cab. Far ahead of rivals in terms of build quality, the coachbuilt Karmanns gained a devout following. This Volkswagen Karmann Mobil Motorhome is described as a fabulous example that has been subject to a previous full professional respray. Benefiting from a 2. 0-litre naturally aspirated Subaru engine, it is therefore reliable and highly usable. The interior is equally impressive with tartan contrasting beige upholstery throughout. There is a spacious toilet and shower, and a rear lounge that makes into a bed. Two skylights and large windows bring in natural light. With so few of these models in existence, it represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a well-built and very rare classic motorhome. It is noted the vendor has misplaced the V5C and a V62 application will need to be carried out
