1948' AC Barchetta Lx820

With racing pedigree from the early 50's in Brazil and still to this day retaining its original chassis, 2 litre AC straight-six and four speed gearbox, this Barchetta has certainly has a unique story to tell.
Originally based on the saloon AC 2 litre, the car was modified beyond recognition after it was shipped to Brazil in 1948. After a few years on foreign soil, LX820 was rebodied and modified to go racing where it continued to do so from the early 1950's until the mid part of the decade.
Not only does this stunning all aluminium body echo that of the Ferrari Barchetta, LX820 was also crowned the winner of the best AC engined car in show at the AC Owners Club Nationals back in 2016.
After this point very little is known about the cars whereabouts until it magically reappeared in a 1997 edition of Classic Cars Magazine. The car was photographed in a very much unloved state at a Sao Paulo car cemetery which housed cars that had been dragged off the streets of Sau Paulo and Rio De Janeiro.
After been spotted, the car managed to find its way back to the UK where it began its transformation back to life. Fortunately for the car, Aston Martin trained specialist Shaun Rush of ASR Motor Body Engineering undertook the full body restoration, before being passed on to the outstanding Lone Pine Garage who themselves are renowned for building multi concours cars for the likes of Pebble Beach and Salon Prive.
Thanks to Browning Restorations, the original engine and gearbox were completely stripped and rebuilt and now produce a lively and reliable drive. Down to their craftsmanship and know-how, the Barchetta now produces an extra 15bhp over standard form healthily.
LX820 is nothing short of stunning throughout and it's your chance to own a very rare piece of AC history with it being the only one in the world.
Any independent inspection is welcomed and all cars on sale by Horsepower Hangar are HPi checked and mechanically inspected, so you can buy with confidence from a long established specialist.
The AC is available to view 7 days a week, but please note that all viewings are strictly by appointment only and we’re located just 30 minutes away from the A1 at Peterborough.
