Комментарии продавца про 1955' Lancia Aurelia

Lancia is one of the world’s oldest and most respected motor car manufacturers and the Aurelia is one of the most influential cars in motoring history. Known for superb engineering and excellent performance the Aurelia was designed under the supervision of the legendary Vittorio Jano, the mastermind behind the all-conquering Alfa Romeo P2, 6C and 8C of the pre-war years. Jano’s arrival set the stage for Lancia’s burst of fame and glory on the international competition stage, in which the Aurelia would play a starring role.Launched at the 1950 Turin Motor Show this revolutionary new model was initially available as a four-door saloon, but soon spawned spider and convertible variants plus a beautiful two-door coupe, the B20 GT. The Aurelia was a ground-breaking design with an all-aluminium V6 engine (the world’s first production V6) set well back in the frame and Lancia’s famous independent sliding pillar front suspension was employed along with independent rear suspension. The gearbox and clutch were housed in a lightweight aluminium-cased transaxle which, along with engine , gave an ideal 50/ 50 weight distribution. In addition, inboard rear brakes reduced un-sprung weight. The 4th Series Aurelia saw the introduction of the new De Dion rear suspension arrangement. The Aurelia was also successful in motorsport finishing second overall (to a Ferrari 340 America) at the 1951 Mille Miglia and achieving first in class at Le Mans the same year. The model also chalked up victories in the Targa Florio, Rome-Liege-Rome and Monte Carlo Rally. Chassis 3527 is a rare late 4th Series example. Construction commenced on the 25th March 1955 and was completed on the 25th May 1955. According to the car’s original Carta di Circolazione per Autovettura (on file), the Aurelia spent its early years in Parma, Italy with two Italian owners before being imported to the UK in 1965.The Aurelia was originally specified with an exterior in grey and a grey cloth interior. In 1970 the car was in good running condition when it was acquired by British Airways employee Andrew Anderson of Heston, Middlesex. Mr. Anderson took the car off the road with around 29, 000 kms showing on the odometer in order to commence a major rebuild as a retirement project for himself. In 1977 Mr. Anderson sold the car mid-restoration to Paul Shelton of Enfield, Middlesex who finished it in 1982. The body was stripped and painted by Monorep and was finished in Bentley Shell Grey metallic. All the brightwork was replaced or re-chromed. The interior was trimmed by W. J. Willis of South Ruislip in red Ambla and the headlining in grey woolcloth. As a late 4th Series car it has the coveted Jaeger instruments and is fitted with the desirable Lancia floor-shift and wood rimmed steering wheel.Shortly after the completion of its restoration Mr. Shelton sold the car to Frank James of Penrith who loaned the car for a feature that appeared in the October 1984 edition of Thoroughbred & Classic Cars magazine which included a starring role on the front page!Ex-Lancia Motor Club chairman Brinley (Brin) Edwards acquired the car in 1992 and sold it to the current owner in 2004. Since then it has been looked after by respected UK classic Lancia specialists Omicron and Peter Harding. The current owner has added a number of modifications to allow the car to cope with modern traffic conditions such as an electric fuel pump and carburettor bypass that continually pumps cool fuel from the tank to alleviate any fuel vapourisation issues, a spin-off oil filter (the original is included), period electric fan, LED light bulbs and new rear springs to high-performance specification. In 2007 the water pump was overhauled along with the installation of a new flywheel, electric fuel pump and five replacement (original) wheels.Between 2008 and 2012 Omicron restored several areas of the body. A new original dynamo was fitted in 2010 and a re-lined clutch and new speedo cable in 2012. The front brakes were rebuilt with re-lined shoes and slave cylinders in 2013 and the rears in 2019. The carburettor was reconditioned in 2015.In 2025 corrosion in the driver’s side sill, cabin floor and transmission tunnel sections were repaired with new panels.4th Series Aurelias are eligible for many prestigious events including Mille Miglia and the current owner has enjoyed the car on multiple classic events such as Rallye des Alpes and on two occasions took part in the famous Vernasca Silver Flag Hillclimb where car and driver won ‘The Spirit of Vernasca’ prize. After twenty years of ownership this attractive and rare 4th Series Aurelia is now offered for sale due to loss of garage space. The car is in good condition, presents well and was driven to our Hampshire premises from Norwich without problem.Importantly, the Aurelia also retains its original engine and comes with a significant history file containing many invoices and MOT certificates that date back to 1970 along with UK V5C registration document and original Italian Carta di Circolazione per Autovettura and Automobile Club D’Italia Foglio Complementare.Should the new owner require, there is also a library of handbooks, a period spare parts catalogue and relevant magazine articles as well as a number of parts.
