The Morris Minor, with its overhead camshaft 847cc engine, made its debut at the 1928 Motor Show. Although a latecomer to the small car market, it was to prove a success with Saloon, Tourer and Van variants available by the second year of production.
A desirable model was the 'Semi Sports' two seater, with its attractive and rakish pointed tailed coachwork. This model was, in fact, very close in specification to the 'M' Type MG Midget and over the years, a number of Minor Sports Models have been converted to 'M' Type MGs.
This example of the Semi Sports was the subject of a total rebuild by Vintage Minor guru, David Cooksey, being completed thirteen years ago for the previous owner. The 1929 chassis was fitted with a new ash frame, then being correctly fabric covered as original.
The electrics were converted to 12 volt and the engine was completely rebuilt with a Phoenix crankshaft, MG conrods and sports camshaft - so it is effectively in MG tune and very lively and willing on the road.
A VSCC Buff Form is supplied, so this appealing little motor car had excellent potential for light competition use.
Presented in excellent all round order, the car has full weather equipment including hood, tonneau cover and correct pattern sidescreens.
Copies of photos of the rebuild in progress are included, along with a considerable amount of additional documentation and original registration number remains with the car.
A charming small sporting light car, it must represent very good value and a great opportunity to participate in VSCC events, as well as those held by the enthusiastic Vintage Minor Register.
