Seller's comments about 1928' Alvis 12/50 Sd
1928 SD Alvis 12-50. Pretty, lightweight aluminium on ash body, fitted with reliable 1645cc engine.
New body constructed in early in 1960s to specification of VSCC member. Paintwork brown, leather, too, car known in club circles as ‘Charlie Brown’
Best described as ‘2 plus 2’. One door. Ideal for up to two adults and 2 small children.
1645cc long stroke engine, refurbish by highly acclaimed Alvis professional, uses big port head with outside stainless exhaust, claimed by Bill Boddy, late of Motor Sport, to be the best combination for the Alvis 12-50. 40mm Solex gives reliable starting, rear petrol tank more convenient range.
Good Firestone tyres, fronts new.
Large luggage box easily fitted for touring etc.
Original gearbox with recent new bearings and somewhat increased intermediate gear ratios.
Car has travelled widely in USA, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, N, S, E England, always returning under its own steam.
