1935 Alvis Speed 20 Special, chassis number 12008, engine number 17694. This was originally a Charlesworth saloon but the body was long gone when I bought it. I pulled the car, as an engineless, bodyless wreck, with lights, instruments and many other many parts missing, out of a wood in 1967. Since then I have stripped it to the bare chassis, obtained a correct engine and rebuilt it as a 4 seat open tourer. Photos are available to interested parties. The chassis was de-rusted and painted with two pack epoxy chassis paint. The body is timber frame, clad in aircraft grade aluminum and padded leather cloth. The seats are professionally covered in matching leather cloth and the carpets are also custom made. A new mahogany dashboard has been produced by a professional cabinet maker. All chrome work has been replated. Other work includes new honeycomb radiator, cylinder head recondition, valve guides sleeved, new valve springs, some new valves, reconditioned starter and dynamo, new voltage regulator, new carburettor needles, fuel pumps reconditioned, shock absorbers rebushed, all wheels rebuilt with new spokes and powder coated, all instruments reconditioned, brakes relined, drums skimmed, drive plates reconditioned and new studs, whole car rewired with provision in lights for flashers. Good oil pressure and the car does not run hot. Mechanically the car is original and has not been cut and shut. Dry stored throughout its life with me. Total mileage is unknown but in my ownership probably not more than 6000 in 55 years. This is very much an up and running car ready for the road and great fun to drive. Reason for sale, old age with tears in my eyes. Offers are invited.
