Here we offer an exceptionally rare South African market only Leyland Mini 1275 GTS. First introduced in July 1973 and produced until 1980 exclusively for the South African market the GTS stands as a higher-performance successor to the iconic 1275 GT model fitted with a locally cast version of the Cooper S engine which had been phased out in other markets. Just 4, 210 were produced over the period and it is a rare car now even in it's home market. Newly imported and now UK registered, this car is a very early example from 1974 and is fitted with a retro style body kit which suits the performance upgrades that have also been carried out. The engine has been bored to 1380cc with twin HS4 SU carbs giving excellent performance. To cope with the extra power, larger uprated front disc brakes from a Mk1 Golf have been fitted along with fully adjustable camber and castor control kit, adjustable shocks, performance exhaust and a close ratio gearbox. It runs on 13 inch Minilite style alloys with quality Yokohoma tyres Structurally the body is in excellent condition as evidenced in photos and a fresh service has been carried out to ensure all is in good order mechanically. Can be seen at Beaulieu on Sunday 9th June, Classic Mini Cooper Register meet. Summer Sale one off show price reduced on the day to £10, 000 and can be transported to any destination from the show.
