This 1959 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan is a big V8 two-tone machine that gives you a ton of potential within its value price. This is the ultimate classic for many of us. 1959 was the introduction of the top-of-the-line Galaxie trim. Its true post-war styling with an extra-wide grille, jet-inspired taillights, and a wraparound windshield. The body tag tells us this is wearing its correct Geranium and Colonial White two-tone, and the full-length trim line provides a clear separation while also highlighting the sporty kick-up at the rear. Theres more intricate brightwork with the bumpers. The front one is a big chrome king, and the way the rear bumper is notched to draw even more attention to the afterburner-style taillights is pure 50s awesome excess. And while the factory got the style right, this one even turns it up a notch further with plenty of cool cruiser attitude. The faux lake pipes, half-chrome headlights, polished fender skirts, wire wheel covers, and deleted hood trim add an extra dimension of chic. So as you look over this whole car, youll see there is plenty of room for improvement and personalization. Thats why this has the value price. But overall, its great to see such a complete example from such a pivotal model year. The interior has the appeal of a big classic full-size sedan where everyone has acres of room. It carries its correct original two-tone style. If youre looking to create a patina hot rod, then you are probably excited about this presentation. But even if thats not your aim, there is value in how everything remains complete, right down to the bright trim on the bottom of the doors. So you have a much easier candidate for a factory-style restoration, or if you go for a major upgrade, selling off the details can likely make a nice contribution to the restoration fund. The engine bay has a lot of appeal. The 352 cubic-inch V8 was the largest of the era, and so this provides a terrific base for this car. It has received a solid investment, including the carburetor was recently serviced and the radiator was redone. So it makes for a nicer runner that knows how to give a good tune out of the dual exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission is there for good cruising. Plus, we have a recent receipt for nearly $3k invested in a new power brake system, including an upgrade to front discs. The sale comes complete with owners manual and maintenance records. This is the first-year Galaxie where the value price means sky-high potential. So if youre looking for a strong V8 heart and a car that you can give a personal touch, you know this is the one.
