The cars were built by Rick Stevens, our model was the Sport, sold in 1978 to 1979, 200 cars of this type were produced. Historical overview: Rick Stevens founded Kougar Cars in 1978, although the first (about 30) cars were sold by a company called Storcourt Wells Ltd. In 1976 he built a prototype which featured an aluminum body. All other cars have fiberglass bodies. Rick continues to take an active interest in the Kougar Owners Club as its president. Rick's inspiration to create the Kougar was the Jaguar S Type Saloon he owned, but he realized it wasn't worth much at the time. He also realized that a first-class sports car could be built by combining the heavy shapes of the Jaguar with a simple, lightweight body and chassis. The sports car's design wasn't directly inspired by any specific vehicle, but Rick admits to having a certain fondness for the Fraser Nash TT and Healey Silverstone replicas. The first alloy-bodied car was sold to an American in 1977, but the molds were carefully removed from the bodywork and a batch of 5 cars was exported to Australia. The first cars featured a chrome grill, however this was replaced with a cast alloy grill for a short time, before the chrome grill was reinstated, albeit with two additional bars in 1979, still used today. Production of the "Sport" model was continuous and approximately 200 cars were sold over the years. In 1979, a second model, the Monza, was developed, which used Ford engine components. About 40 Monzas ended up mainly on the American west coast. The Monza was ultimately developed with Jaguar components such as the Sports in mind, and was sometimes fitted with the Rover V8 and Jaguar V12 engines, as well as the Jaguar XK engine. Over the years approximately 60% of the cars were supplied in kits, the remaining 40% were complete cars supplied by Kougar Cars, of which 20% were registered new and included all new parts from Jaguar Cars Ltd. Some of these new vehicles were sold by HR Owen in London and other distributors. Authorized Dealer of Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover. We sell used cars.
