JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES III (OTS) 5. 3 V12 CONVERTIBLE 272CV 1972 - The first series of the E-Type was heavily inspired by the Jaguar D-Type, the racing car that Jaguar developed to win the mythical Le Mans 24-hour race, but the powerful influence of the original D-Type remained ever-present and well-identified until the 3rd and final generation of the model. It was in production from March 1971 to February 1975. There were two different Series 3 Jaguar E-Type options to choose from, which were an Open Two Seater (OTS) version and a Two Plus Two (Coupé) version. The Series 3 was introduced in 1971, one of the most striking and eye-catching changes it featured over its predecessors was the new Jaguar 5. 3-litre V12 engine, based on the engine designed for the Jaguar XJ13 model, the V12 engine was reworked into a production-ready version to meet emissions regulations before being installed. As the engine was initially produced for the prototype Jaguar XJ13 racing car that was to compete at Le Mans, the V12 was fitted with four Zenith carburettors that produced 272bhp, as well as being able to achieve the 0-100km/ h acceleration sprint in less than 7 seconds. Other changes to the E-Type's interior components included improved brakes and hydraulic power steering. External changes to the 3 Series included widened wheel arches, wider tyres, a distinctive new front grille, four beautiful exhaust outlets and a V12 badge at the rear. The cabin has been stylised to create more space on board. This beautiful example is presented in an elegant and attractive combination, with a Dark Blue exterior, Beige interior and Dark Blue bonnet and tonneau. It comes with a manual gearbox and optional spoked wheels. Certified as a Car of Historic Interest by the ACP.
