Seller's comments about 1972' Land Rover Series III

Parabolic Springs. Recent Canvas. Recent Exhaust. BF Goodrich 750 Tyres. 3 Front Seat Belts including Centre Lap. Defender Type Mirrors. Just the 1312th Series 3 ever built. Front Axle ProtectionWe are delighted to present for sale this very early Series 3 Land Rover, having been built in the first year of production in 1972, being the 1312th example of the Series 3 ever built – although we have sold as early as example number six ever built, seeing one in the first 1500 examples built is very uncommon!Externally, as can be seen from the photos, this particular Series 3 is finished in the Mid Grey colour scheme, with Limestone wheels and Sand Canvas – there are a host of period features such as vintage number plates, rear grab handles, colour coded lamp surrounds, galvanised front bumper, recent canvas – etc etc. There are some modern upgrades too – such as the defender style door mirrors for improved visibility, along with a set of 750 BF Goodrich tyres – these not only fill the arches well, but also give increased gearing for a more relaxed cruise and improved economy and superior road holding over standard, which is most welcome. To the inside, there are three standard front seats, which are all equipped with seat belts – two outer front “over the shoulder” belts with a centre lap for the middle passenger. Deluxe matting is fitted to the footwells. The rear is currently unfitted, except for a load mat to the floor area… should a new owner wish to fit rear bench seats back there, we can do this for £595, which brings seating for seven people including the driver. It is nice to note inside that it does not suffer the usual sun cracking on the dash, as well as the distinct lack of unwelcome extra stuck on additions which seek to detract from the driving experience.Out on the road, this Series 3 delivers a pleasing period drive, aided by some upgrades – the petrol engine is helped along with a performance air filter and a weber carburettor to afford maximum power in the period set up, with 750 tyres giving increased gearing to exploit the firepower. A recent exhaust gives an infectious exhaust tone which encourages the driver to press on through the gears and get up to speed – whilst parabolic springs give a much superior ride quality to standard which will be welcome for both poor quality roads and off-roading. The colour scheme turns heads for the right reasons & the public seemed to very much enjoy waving and smiling at us on the test route through the centre of Thirsk. It is great to see that despite MOT exemption, there is a current independent MOT which is still valid – giving peace of mind to both ourselves and the future owner. In summary then – if you are looking for an early Series 3 Land Rover which is ready to enjoy these late summer days and the upcoming colder weather, then this has to be worth consideration. The added bonuses of MOT and Tax exemption, alongside Classic Insurance, should mean it proves to be a loyal and fuss free companion for the future, whilst not breaking the bank to own and enjoy.Priced at £21, 995
