This car was supplied to new to Doug Hardwick for the 1968 racing season. Ran in British events with a 1598cc Lotus-Ford twin cam engine and a 5 speed Hewland FT200 gearbox. After its Hardwick Racing career it was modified with wider wheels and archers then purchased by Harry Appleby in 1971. Harry continued to campaign the car in the UK until 1978. He emirgrated to the USA in 1982 taking the Lotus 47 across the pond, retaining it until 2005 at which point it returned to Europe. The car has changed little since 1971; it is currently powered by a 1600cc Lotus engine on Lucas fuel injection mated to a Hewland gearbox.
