I am selling my Lotus Elan S4 Drophead 1971. It is an unfinished project. So far the car has been repainted, approx 4 years ago, in cellulose, good finish but some micro blistering has returned on wings and nose. The engine has been rebuilt, with head converted to unleaded, with new valves, guides and exhaust seats. All new rings and bearings, pumps, chain, and gaskets. As yet un-run. The gearbox has been refreshed with new bearings, seals and gaskets. It is fitted with a Spyder Lotus style chassis, grey finish. Main jobs required are: Door frames bottoms, parts supplied. Complete brake overhaul. Seats need refurbishing. Headlamp vacuum system, vac units supplied. New Rotoflex couplings or solid drive shafts Tyres, 4 good used supplied New hood, frame is all there. Fuel tank cleaning and fitting. Seat belts. A few smaller jobs Lastly the new owner will need to apply for a V5C when car is road worthy. This is because the car has been off the road since the early 80’s and has dropped off the DVLA current database, it maybe on their archives. I have the Lotus certificate of provenance. The car has the original matching numbered engine, and the body numbers match the chassis number. Mileage on speedo is 71220, which I cannot verify. Car can be viewed, near Bournemouth.
