The identification feature of the W 110, like that of the similar series 111 and 112, are the rear fins with which the manufacturer Daimler-Benz, which stood for a rather conservative design, made concessions to the prevailing car design in the USA. The straightforward, elegant body shape with the side beads in the sheet was developed by the then Daimler-Benz chief designer Karl Wilfert and his team. Compared to American vehicles, however, the rear fins on the W 110 are rather small. The manufacturer called them "Peilstege" that should make it easier to park - they clearly marked the end of the car. The all-round view was very good through the panoramic front and rear window pulled around the corner.
