1956' Mercedes-Benz Sl-Klasse

The vehicle on offer is an early 190 SL model from the first production series and a first delivery from 1956. This touring sports car was also available as a coupé (with hardtop or even with both roof variants) as an option for the convertible with soft top. offered from 1955 to 1963. The second was less popular because of course you had to rely on good weather to enjoy your ride under the open sky. As with other models, the sales designation 190 was used for displacement, measured in centilitres. The additional designation SL simply stood for "Sport Light".
This two-seater, elegant roadster corresponds to a condition grade of 1 (a valuation report by a court-certified expert as well as extensive restoration photo documentation is available) and presents itself with its silver gray metallic paintwork, red genuine leather interior and fabric top in fabulous overall condition.
Thanks to the manual gearbox with 4 fully synchronized gears, the Mercedes moves well with its 105 horsepower. Only ~130km can currently be read on the km/h speedometer, which has been understood since the engine was revised. Exceptionally, the models 1955 to 1958 had an engine block with a water cover, hence the term water cover motor. Other features of this first series are the small taillights, darkened Plexiglas sun visors and of course the beautiful curvy shapes that extend over the entire body. There are also countless playful chrome applications that really make this car something special.
Similar to the iconic "big brother" 300 SL Gullwing, this roadster has comfortable bucket or bucket seats. The prices for such rarities are still going through the roof and are an absolute investment.
Incidentally, 4,032 of the 190-SL built in 1956 left the factory, almost half of which were intended for export to the USA. So, of course, many vehicles - like this one here - are re-imported from overseas.
