In the fall of 1977, the top version of the Mercedes C107 SLC 450 5.0 entered the market - the most powerful engine generating 240 horsepower. Less than three thousand of them were created. The entire production of the model included over sixty thousand pieces. The C107 is less often seen on the road than the twin R107, and the version with a 240-horsepower V8 was produced less than 5 percent of the total production, but these are just numbers. In fact, the 450 with a five-liter engine is a limousine with a sporty character. And it is not a pleasantly purring couch potato for executives with a "heavy leg", but a homologated, comfortable rally car. A rally car that has been successful in rallies held in Africa and America. The distinguishing features of the SLC are the aluminum trunk lid and engine cover, as well as aluminum bumper reinforcements and characteristic louvres in the rear side windows.
