Seller's comments about 1961' MG MGA 1600 Roadster
This MGA was purchased site unseen roughly 30 years ago, from a friend of a friend, based on the description being an early B. When the A showed up, the new owner was a bit surprised but paid for it anyway, liking the looks of the car.
Unfortunately, aside from running the family business, he was tasked with taking care of some family as well, due to failing health. This kept him away from ever working on the MGA. It was rolled into the garage, hoisted up onto jack stands and she has literally been in the same position for at least the last 30 years.
She was a project when she rolled into the garage and she is still a project.
Most of the exterior is totally salvageable, needing primarily rockers and some rust repair on the front fenders. Inside, most metal is pretty good but there is rust/rot present on parts of the frame rail, it is fixable though, not terminal. The rest of the interior bits aren't all that bad and again, are all restorable.
In the trunk, the entire cavity is very presentable, the boot lid is good only needing minor attention. Under the bonnet is similar, but unfortunately, the 1600 engine does not turn.
The wheels turn and the trans shifts easily.
This is a total project and will need a complete restoration, however, if one has the skill-set, the tools and the time, this can be a rewarding effort to bring back an iconic British sports car and in doing the work yourself, not only proud, but probably not under water if you eventually decide to sell. Hopefully you'll get her out and enjoy her, as she should be. She's sold with a CT Bill of Sale and ownership affidavit.
Asking price on her is $2500
