We are pleased to offer this stunning, excellent Morris Minor Traveller onto the market for the second time. Not only is the car in lovely condition, it has the most exceptional history dating back to new. A lovely document folder from London’s Morris Distributors Stewart & Arden Ltd accompanies the car containing original documents to include the original bill of sale, Stewart & Arden Ltd payment receipt, receipt for driver’s handbook, handbook, Radio guarantee sheet from S. Smith & Sons (Radiomobile) Ltd, schedule of after-sales service, Radiomobile operation instructions booklet and dashboard card, original AA and RAC booklets and a lovely letter from the cars very first owner. The original bill of sale confirms the Morris, 531 XMT was supplied new to a Mr G Soan Esq in Surrey on the 22nd January 1960, originally finished in Dark Grey with Red trim. The Morris is a De-Luxe model, and left the supplying dealership with Lucas electrical windscreen washers, 2 jet central mountings, Radiomobile de-luxe, aerial and the price of £770 included BMC underbody seal. The Morris then stayed with its first owner for 54 years.
During the 1990's the Morris was regularly maintained with invoices on file for various expenditure with its first owner, and a huge stack of invoices are on file from The Morris Minor Parts Centre in London for parts between 2001 and 2004. The Morris was treated to new woodwork and a complete outer re-spray in Almond Green, new carpets and various cosmetic detailing including chrome. Since changing hands for the first time in 2014 the Minor has been continuously maintained and its most recent owner has spent over £1000 since last summer on a complete brake overhaul to include new drums, brake shoes, back plates and brake pipes, and the suspension has been subject of new shocks and re-bushing. The Morris has also had a new fuel hose, sender unit and petrol filler rubber sleeve.
531 XMT presents beautifully with exceptional bodywork, lovely paintwork, bright chrome and superb woodwork. The interior still retains its original seats and has been kept up too with new carpets, headlining and all new rubbers. Under the bonnet is very tidy, a new wiring harness is on show and the engine and gearbox are in excellent order. The underside of the Traveller is absolutely rock solid and, on the road, its effortless with a lovely strong engine, smooth gearbox, and recently re-conditioned brakes and suspension. 531 XMT is a superb example, and the paperwork, history and related provenance from having this is second to none in terms of Morris Minors we've owned over the years.
