The 1958 Pontiac Chieftain was a symbol of 1950s American automotive style...you get performance, comfort and eye-catching design!
This two-door coupé, completely restored in Austria, is a rolling work of art on four wheels and shines in the new "Viking Blue" or two-tone paintwork including the white hardtop.
In 1958 there were four Pontiac series: Chieftain, Super Chief, Star Chief and Bonneville. The selection of sedans, coupes, convertibles and station wagons varied. For example, there were seven models of the Chieftain, including two- and four-door sedans (with side window frames), a Catalina Coupé (two-door hardtop, without side window frames) and a Catalina sedan (four-door, actually a hardtop despite the sedan name), a convertible and Safari station wagons.
In general, the car offered here is in top condition, true to the original. The expressive design, lavish chrome bumpers, wide chrome trim, front with double headlights, original radiator grille, whitewall tires and a curved body that reflected the “Jet Age” look trend at the time are striking.
The interior is also in very good condition. Very inviting for every classic car fan, of course, the 3-seater bench in the front and back rows (5 seats are permitted) as well as a clear cockpit with crystal-clear displays and great chrome accessories.
The classic is powered by a 370cid 6.0 liter V8 engine and is listed in the papers with a nominal 203 DIN horsepower. Of course, the engines ex works (measured when they were not installed) had significantly more “output”. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic.
