We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this outstanding 1973 Porsche Carrera RS M472.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of air-cooled Porsches. This Porsche Carrera 2. 7 RS is one of those examples!
The 1973 Carrera RS needs no introduction in the world of car enthusiasts. RS stands for Rennsport in German, meaning racing sport. The RS was developed to meet motorsport homologation requirements. Compared to a standard 911S, the Carrera 2. 7 RS had a larger engine (2, 687 cc) developing 210 PS (150 kW; 210 hp) with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, revised and stiffened suspension, a "ducktail" rear spoiler, larger brakes, wider rear wheels and rear fenders, to fit 185/ 70VR15 & 215/ 60VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires. The initial plan was to just develop 500 examples, but the overwhelming public interest in the car led to a larger production. In total, 1, 590 units were made and the cars are considered to be perhaps the most exciting air-cooled road car ever engineered by Porsche.
These cars do not come to the market often and if they do, it is always exciting to see one of these legends.
We've seen some excellent 911 Carrera 2. 7 RS over the years, but we haven't seen a German first-hand, one owner RS with a complete history!
On June 25, 1973, Mr. Acher went to the registration office to register his dream of a brand-new Porsche 911 Carrera 2. 7 RS. He then called this car his own for over 30 years!
During this long period the car had a good life. It was only driven in the summer and regularly serviced. When the Porsche had to be taken to the body shop due to damage to a rear side panel, a Porsche driver friend of his persuaded Mr. Acher to use the wider RSR-arches at the same time. The original RS extensions were cut off and RSR extensions were welded on.
When Mr. Acher's time in the RS was over, he sold the Carrera, which had been in good condition until then, to a Porsche specialist in his area. Then it was passed on to a collector in Hamburg. Between 2007 and 2010, this collector had the car completely overhauled by well-known Porsche specialists and restored to its original condition.
The original RS extensions were correctly welded back on again with the exact welding seam known by RS specialists. All work is documented with invoices. In 2012 the car was integrated into the collection of a Porsche enthusiast from Stuttgart. In 2013, he had the underbody cleaned with dry ice and carried out a rust protection measure. In addition, the upper body was sanded down again due to small paint defects and repainted in the highest quality. Again, only excellent Porsche specialist were chosen and the result of the work is 100% correct to spec. In the following years, the car was used for occasional drives and was always regularly serviced and maintained.
In 2021 the injection pump was revised by the most recognized specialist in Germany.
This extraordinary Carrera RS is in excellent condition today, many parts are still untouched and original, only correct materials and original components were used in the revised areas. All numbers are correct, and the color and equipment correspond to the delivery condition.
The total mileage is only about 100, 000 km (60k miles). Since the Porsche has never been registered with another owner and was always part of collections with little street use, Mr. Acher is still noted as the only owner in the vehicle registration document. All documents such as vehicle documents, on-board folder with operating instructions and service booklet as well as extensive documentation are available.
A professional magnetic scan report of all factory numbers is also included!
Without a doubt, this Carrera RS represents a very rare opportunity to acquire one of these legendary cars, in a stunning color combination and with a full one owner German history.
An excellent example for the most discerning collector and enthusiast.
