The Triumph GT6 MK3 was launched in 1970 with an entirely new body shell and styling similar to the MK1V spitfire. Better aerodynamics and 105bhp allowed a top speed of 112mph making it significantly quicker than the MGB. This car is a 1971 GT6 in its original colour of Saffron. It comes to us direct from private ownership and has had just three previous owners from new – the V5 show four previous but it was in long term ownership from 1978 until 2007 and was registered by that owner’s wife on his passing. This GT6 is a ”Rotoflex” car fitted with overdrive that is running and driving beautifully and has lead a pampered life with very a great deal of money spent on it in recent years. In 2007 it was treated to a light restoration including various new panels and a new bonnet and at a cost of £10k, then in 2012 it had an engine refresh, gearbox re-build and a very long list of replacement mechanical and cosmetic parts. More recently it’s had another round of spending including re-build of the overdrive unit and a new set of minilite style wheels and new tyres. It’s fitted with some useful upgrades including a spin on oil filter conversion, electronic ignition and a high quality wood rimmed steering wheel. This is not a concours car – there are various very minor cosmetic flaws but it is best described as excellent in all areas and it is ready to use. It comes with a comprehensive history file including new and old V5’s, original owners manual, workshop manuals and some spares and original parts. Viewing near Biddulph, Staffs.
