Seller's comments about 1953' Triumph Mayflower

The Triumph Mayflower was produced between 1949 and 1953. The model was an attempt at a small car with an up-market image but sales were slow - just 34, 000 were produced - perhaps because the “razor-edge” styling failed to appeal to British or American markets. This car is a very late Mayflower specified new with various extras including leather seating and a heater. It came to us as a p/ x on a more expensive classic. The last owner spent a decent amount of money sorting the brakes and various other replacement parts.PAR 752 had four owners during the fifties and sixties then appears to have been with its fifth owner for the next forty odd years. It has been re-painted in a pale shade of green not too far away from the original grey at some point and the body presents well with some imperfections. The interior is in serviceable condition – the driver’s side seat backing has come away at the top and will need repair but someone has made a set of neat covers for the upper part of both front seats. The underside is solid; it has had some plating to the sills but the rails and floors are in very good order. The 1247cc side valve engine runs well and the three speed column change is slick and crunch free. It has an electric fan fitted and after market temperature gauge. The trafficators are working and have flashing bulbs fitted. We have just carried out a few cosmetic jobs and given it an oil change. It is now ready to use. These unusual cars are surprisingly good to drive and their rarity means that they attract a great deal of attention on the road or at shows. This one comes with a various spare parts and documentation including handbook, workshop manuals, heritage certificate, original buff logbook and various invoices, plus a custom made display flag and potted history board. This Mayflower is clearly not perfect but we are selling it as a part exchange. Nonetheless it is in very usable condition and very good value - The number “PAR 752” is original to the car, transferable and of significant value!
