1978 Westfalia LHD Bay Window camper (tax and MOT exempt).
£12, 000
Owned by myself since 2012. Runs and drives well but needs some work to the chassis and body panels. Has given my family and me many years of great camping trips. Can sleep 4 adults and an extra child in the original cab hammock (hammock would also make an excellent dog bed).
Recon 2litre engine professionally fitted 10 years ago.
US import. Ownership documents going back to date of import. Import certificate (1990) and original warranty booklet from 1978. All locks & ignition on the same key.
Has American style padded dashboard and interior door handles. Original glovebox lid and insert. Original Radio/ cassette player (currently unused but working when last tested. Easy to reconnect).
All original Westfalia interior in good condition. Veneer is mainly all intact. Removable table in good condition.
Sink, twin burner hob, top loader fridge, Propex-style heater. Underside LPG tank (needs new regulator).
Electric hookup with original American mains transformer unit still in place (unused by myself but apparently used by previous owner, with UK adapters included).
Perfectly functioning three-quarter rock & roll bed. Full set of lined curtains with matching cab window curtain. Original flyscreen mesh to cover the tailgate when open. Pop top in full working order with full width fold-out bed. Pop-top fabric in good condition with no leaks.
Four solid hubcaps (currently stored, for preservation); two good originals polished up, two brand new.
Bodywork has obvious rust patches and requires some restoration. All body panels have varying degrees of rust showing through, as visible on photos. It is currently stored at the back of my home, in a communal parking area and has no battery, hence awkward photos of bodywork. This is due to storage circumstances rather than an attempt to hide anything. If a viewing is arranged, it can be moved to allow full inspection.
The chassis has sections (towards the rear) which need to be replaced. I do not have the funds to pay for this work to be carried out and it is outside of my own abilities, hence my extremely reluctant sale.
