This is an exceptional car I am offering you: this magnificent 1935 BMW 329 Cabriolet shows 2, 528 km on the odometer and is finished in two-tone cream and blue. It has full beige leather upholstery and a navy blue cotton hood in very good condition, working instrumentation and well-preserved woodwork. Bought new in 1936 and in France since the Second World War, the BMW 329 was only offered as a cabriolet, with 1, 011 cars built in total, seating four.A great mechanical adventure: the 329 combined the engine and chassis of the earlier 319 with the front section of the 326's bodywork. This unusual configuration came about purely to offset a shortage of 326 chassis. Once the required numbers had been built, production of the 329 stopped after roughly one year. This BMW 329 was a transitional model, bridging the gap between the 319 and the 327, two iconic models in BMW's history.6-cylinder engine renowned for its reliability and pleasant exhaust note, 1, 911cc2 Solex carburettors producing 45hp4-speed manual gearboxRestored in 2003: chassis and bodywork sandblasted, gearbox bearings replacedEngine rebuilt in 2013Blue 3-spoke Bakelite steering wheelWheels painted in body colourNavy blue cotton hoodHydraulic brakes on all four wheels (a rarity in the 1930s)Independent front suspension with transverse springs (carried over from the 326), a major innovation for BMW that improved handling and comfortRack-and-pinion steeringBodywork and chassisPainted dashboard housing the speedometer and gaugesThis BMW 329 was bought new in 1936, an era that represented elegance and modernity.A few years later, history decided otherwise. It was requisitioned by the German Army during the Second World War and became the car of an officer stationed in Lisieux.Decades later, in the 2000s, its owner decided to trace the car's past. By sharing a photograph of the car from its sale through the Domaines (the French state property agency) after the war, he received an unexpected testimony from a former Lisieux resistance member, who immediately recognised the car. He recalled having seen it many times in the courtyard of the Kommandantur. This elegant automobile thus carried with it a quiet part of history.A fluid design with integrated wings and very rounded lines, plus a vertical radiator grille typical of BMWs of this era.Standard 2+2 registration document (carte grise)Workshop service followed by a contrôle technique (roadworthiness test), with 6 months' MOT-equivalent cover includedOn-the-road package: 250 euros (fuel, cosmetic preparation, safety kit)Registration document (carte grise) and registration handling not included in the priceToday the BMW 329 is extremely rare: few examples have survived from the 1, 011 built. A surprisingly modern machine technically and easy to drive.A fine mechanical specification and a fine history for this hybrid model. You can reserve the car by placing a purchase order with a deposit paid by cheque or bank transfer, on a simple phone call.Test drives by appointment.
