1954 Triumph TR2An attractive and appealing early example of Triumph’s landmark sports car, first registered in Berkshire in February 1954 and accompanied by a substantial history file.We understand that a major restoration was undertaken during the early 2000s, followed by ongoing maintenance and improvement over the years. More recent work has included replacement wheel bearings, brake cylinders, shock absorbers and suspension rubbers, refurbishment of the wire wheels and a repaint. The car was also serviced earlier this summer.Introduced in 1953, the TR2 was developed following Sir John Black’s determination that Standard-Triumph should produce a new and competitive sports car. Following development work by BRM engineer and test driver Ken Richardson, the production TR2 emerged as a light, purposeful and genuinely quick British sports car.Power came from the robust 1, 991cc wet-liner four-cylinder engine derived from the Standard Vanguard.
