1925 Alvis 12/50 SB Ducksback For Sale
My Godfather’s Alvis 12/50 is for sale. This, very pretty, early sub-frame Alvis 12/50 has a known ownership history before the war with early logbooks in the file. It was purchased by Dave Bell in the 1960s who restored it using a correct and original replacement sub-frame 12/50 chassis and one of the first Ducksback bodies supplied by Wilkinsons. During Dave Bell’s ownership the car featured in the film Goodbye Mr. Chips staring Peter O’ Toole and Petula Clark. From David Bell it passed to my father, Peter Glover, in 1974. He used it regularly for rallies until he sold it to my Godfather, David “Bob” Roberts, in the late 1970s and he has owned it ever since. The engine and running gear are all of the correct type and the car performs very well. It is a very good-looking example of a 12/50 Ducksback and has a correct braked front axle which is useful for modern traffic conditions. It is ideally suited to VSCC and 12/50 Register events and would be a brilliant car for a young VSCC member to enjoy. The car is at Bicester Heritage and can be viewed here. Please contact me for further details or to arrange to see the car. £45,000 o.v.n.o.
