Up for sale in our Dallas showroom is an award winning 1948 Chevrolet 3100 5 Window Pickup. This truck is custom from bumper to bumper. Starting at the front you will notice that the front bumper was customized into a split bumper setup, the lower grill pan was customized as well. The headlights were frenched, the hood has had louvers cut in and the hood now is forward tilting, even the firewall was customized by being recessed four inches. Suicide hinges were installed on the front doors. The windshield is now a single piece of glass without the chrome strip. The full length running boards were shortened to match the cab. The radio antenna was recessed to add to the full custom look. The bed received the same amount of attention with smoothed sides, bed rails flattened, the wheel wells were flipped and the tail gate was closed in. The tail lights and third brake lights are custom pieces. The rear bumper was done as a split bumper as well and finally a hidden hitch behind the license plate was installed. The Drive Train; a TCI front end was used on the stock frame which was boxed. Braking is done via four wheel disc brakes powered by a hydra boost system. The rear suspension was triangulated and the rear axle from a ’69 Monte Carlo was utilized. The power is supplied by a Chevrolet 454 CID V8 with an Edelbrock 750 CFM carburetor and put through a 4L60 four speed automatic transmission. The rear axle has 3:73 gears for a great balance of acceleration and cruising. The wheels are Centerline units 18” up front and 20” out back wrapped in Yokohama rubber. Exhaust is expelled through custom mandrel bent exhaust tubing, and Magnaflow mufflers. The interior; complete custom dash. Digital gauges, Vintage air AC panel, and the power door actuators. There is a custom overhead console that contains interior maps lights, gauges for the air ride system, and the CD player that has USB inputs. The steering is done via a matching leather wrapped billet steering wheel, a Flaming River tilt steering column. 60/40 Split bench seats that were custom upholstered in leather to match the green tones in the paint. The exterior was covered in layers of PPG ’99 Sebring Champaign paint with custom mixed two tone greens.
