Introduced in 1979, the Daimler Double Six Series III was among the most accomplished luxury saloons of its generation. Given a performance and economy boost via the arrival of Michael May-designed cylinder heads two years later, the legendarily smooth 5. 3-litre V12 engine – now in H. E. (High Efficiency) guise – reputedly enabled the four-seater to surge from 0-60mph in 7. 5 seconds and onto 151mph.
First registered on 4th May 1984, this handsome Daimler Double Six was in the custody of 6 keepers prior to the previous owner acquiring it in 1993. Understood to have been supplied new in its current hue of Silver with Oatmeal interior, it had been cherished by him over his 33-year custodianship during which time he completed most of the servicing work himself. Other, more major works were outsourced, including an engine overhaul reputedly performed by marque specialist Richard Beatty around five years ago. Following the engine works, the car was laid up until a major recommissioning took place, which included the fitment of a TWR body kit plus a complete repaint and the fitment of new brake callipers all round.
This handsome looking Daimler is now being offered by the subsequent keeper with current V5C, assorted MoTs dating back to the 1990s, a string of tax discs also going back to the 1990s, invoices from various Jaguar parts suppliers, plus the correct TWR spoiler which was never fitted as it requires cutting to fit the enlarged boot plinth of the Daimler specified car.
