The Lancia Appia Berlina 3a Series, introduced in the late 1950s, represented the pinnacle of Lancia’s design philosophy at the time. The Appia model built on the Italian carmaker’s reputation for technically advanced and elegant cars, offering a combination of comfort, precision craftsmanship and refined driving characteristics. The third series of the Appia, produced from 1959 onwards, featured a modernised design, a more spacious interior and improved technology. Under the bonnet was the characteristic narrow 1. 1-litre V4 engine, which was considered an exceptionally advanced design for its time. Thanks to the car’s low weight, high-quality chassis and precise steering, the Appia offered a pleasant and refined driving experience that proved popular not only in Italy but also in overseas markets. This particular car was manufactured in 1959. It is a well-preserved and historically authentic example that has undergone a sensitive restoration, including paintwork repairs, refurbishment of the rear seat, engine tuning and the replacement of wear-and-tear parts. The car has retained its original character and technical specifications and holds a valid historic vehicle certificate valid until 2028. It is powered by the original Lancia four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1090 cm³ and an output of 36 kW, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to its low kerb weight of just 920 kg and a top speed of 132 km/ h, the Appia remains a very enjoyable classic car, suitable for both classic car events and weekend drives.
